At Parkhill Medical Clinic, we provide Driver Medical Exams to help ensure that drivers meet the medical requirements needed for safe driving. These examinations are often required by provincial regulations to assess whether an individual is medically fit to operate a motor vehicle.

Who May Require a Driver Medical Exam

Driver medical exams may be required for seniors, commercial drivers, or individuals with certain medical conditions to ensure they are medically fit to drive safely.   
Senior Drivers
In Alberta, drivers aged 75 years and older are required to complete a medical examination to confirm they are physically and cognitively able to drive safely. Additional medical assessments may be required at age 80 and every two years afterward.
Commercial Drivers
Individuals holding Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s licenses, or those with a Condition Code “C”, may be required to undergo regular medical examinations to ensure they are medically fit to operate commercial vehicles.
Drivers with Medical Conditions
Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, or neurological disorders, may require a driver to complete a medical exam. These assessments help determine whether a health condition could affect driving ability.
